Cellular Jail

Built by the British between 1896 and 1906, the Cellular Jail once held India's freedom fighters in solitary, radiating cells designed so no prisoner could see or speak to another. Today it's a national memorial, and the evening light-and-sound show narrates that history across the very courtyard where prisoners once stood.

Highlights

  • Daily light & sound show (English & Hindi slots)
  • On-site museum with photographs and artefacts
  • Gallows and solitary cells preserved as exhibits
  • Best paired with an early Corbyn's Cove visit the same day
